Behind the Scenes at Link-Wise Learning: The Story Behind the Vision

How did Link-Wise Learning come to be—and why now?

Before there was a name, a website, or a curriculum… there was a question: How do we help learners understand how they learn?

It’s a question I’ve been asking for over 20 years—as a student who learned differently, as an educator, a researcher, and a parent.

Now, that question has grown into a full-service platform—and a community—called Link-Wise Learning.

The learning code that changed everything

As a struggling student in high school, I had a lightbulb moment: I could control my own learning process. That discovery didn’t just improve my grades—it rewired how I saw myself. Years later, as a doctoral student in educational psychology, I came full circle. My dissertation focused on the development of a self-regulated learning assessment framework, designed to help predict and support a learner’s ability to reengage in learning cycles. I didn’t just write about learning—I lived it.

At the heart of this work is what I now call the learning code—the unique combination of cognitive, motivational, emotional, and strategic factors that shape how each person learns.

No two codes are the same.
And every learner can unlock theirs.

From EdPsyting to Link-Wise: 20 years in the making

The seed for this work was planted long ago—during my first consulting project called EdPsyting Measures. It wasn’t polished, but it was powerful: an attempt to bring research into the real world. And now, in Spring 2025, the reimagined vision is finally here.

Link-Wise Learning brings together:

  • Coaching for students, parents, and educators

  • Online courses and professional certification

  • Tools, research-based strategies, and multi-modal resources

  • A community where professionals and families come together to shape what’s next.

And behind all of it is a commitment to unlocking learning potential—one code at a time.

Building the Collaborative: A team of trusted voices

This isn’t a solo effort. I’m joined by a team of eight incredible educators who form our Advisory Council. Together, we’re creating resources, shaping events, and bringing this vision to life. Among them are four with Master’s degrees and two with Doctorates—each with diverse experience in K–12, higher education, learning support, and strategy design.

This summer, they’ll be piloting new courses, designing fall programs, and supporting our mission to make self-regulated learning more accessible and personal than ever before.

The Coaching Lab is ready—and so are we

Our Coaching Lab, designed to support certified partners and their clients, is already live for founding members and will soon be accessible through the website. It’s a virtual workspace for nationwide collaboration, resource sharing, and personalized coaching—just one of many tools that make Link-Wise more than a service... it’s a collaborative movement.

Link-Wise Learning was born from a belief that learning is deeply personal—and that everyone deserves the tools to unlock it. We are not just building programs. We are building pathways for growth, reflection, and resilience.
